17th Century® Brick

Nothing lets you create a sense of heritage or tradition like our 17th Century® brick

17th Century Brick are special – they’re created “the old-fashioned way” – they are formed in a handcrafted, sand dusted wooden mold, so no two are exactly alike. This is a much more labor-intensive way to make brick than through a regular extrusion machine, but the payoffs are many. You get a solid brick with slight irregularities and a softer shape. The sand helps achieve beautiful color variations and creates a velvety face texture. When laid up in the wall, these slight variations translate into a graceful, subtle elegance that’s perfect for a stately mansion or a cozy cottage.

17th Century brick are accented by 17th Century Shapes, curved and angled brick that can add so much impact to the architecture of your home. Shapes are most often used to soften the steps and sills of your home, but can also be used around windows, entrances, and on walls. Watertables add a touch of antique elegance and old-fashioned function by angling rain away from the foundation. One of the most popular features found in historical architecture is the jackarch – an arch of angled brick above each window and door. These jackarches are often accented with a brick or stone keystone in the center.
